Alcohol and Stress

More than one study has shown that a glass of wine can reduce stress. This can help if you have a big decision to make that might be financial or career-related. Maybe you just had a tough day and need a reset. But according to the World Health Organization, No level of alcohol consumption is safe for your health.”  I call BS.

Don't let the neo-Prohibitionists make you feel guilty

In life there are trade-offs. Almost any decision has pros and cons. According to WHO you are apparently supposed to live with the stress that might be keeping you from making that big decision. You might come home and yell at the kids because of work stress. Downing a bottle of Chardonnay then Amazon shopping is a bad idea -- in the alcohol consumption and in the drain on your wallet. If calming yourself so you can see clearly after a glass of Pinot will lead you down the proper path, why the heck not?

The WHO has done a huge disservice.

If any amount of alcohol is bad, then so is a bratwurst, burger, Coke Zero, anything with sugar, white bread, and so on. American white bread is ultra-processed, has additives, probably contains glyphosate (Round-up), and very low in fiber. The wheat grown to make it is nothing like the wheat from a couple of hundred years ago. No amount of white bread is safe for your health!

You see where this is going? Don't feel guilty about that glass of wine or that piece of holiday fudge. This is not the season for neo-Prohibitionists. Actually, it's never the season. You have one life, enjoy it.

Cheers, and happy holidays!
