Favorite Places to Visit in Sonoma County

Following up on favorite wineries and restaurants here are places that fall under the "other" category.

Feeling a bit insignificant
Armstrong Redwoods
A state park containing the tallest living things on the planet with some over 2,000 years old. Take a walk among the giants. Amazing and peaceful. Info

Bodega Bay & Bodega Head
Bodega Bay is the most well-known town on the Sonoma Coast with its picturesque bay of fishing boats and several good restaurants. Bodega Head is a ridge top that protrudes out into the ocean with views up and down the coast plus it's a great spot for whale watching. Also along the coast, Goat Rock Beach is a favorite stop. Info

Dry Creek Valley
Okay, this is sorta wine related, but it's also about the scenery. It's a beautiful area. Try West Dry Creek Road. Info

Sonoma Plaza
It's historic, cute, has lots of events, and often too many people. I can always avoid the too many people easily by avoiding certain weekends. A fun little town to explore. Info

Sonoma County Regional Parks
A system of about 50 parks with many easily accessible from main roads offering hiking, camping, swimming, fishing, backpacking, etc. Favorites are Sonoma Valley Regional Park, Taylor Mtn (for the views), Foothill, and Spring Lake. Info

Commercial
A few local businesses you may find interesting:
Barlow Center, Sebastopol. Eating, drinking, shopping.
Charles Schulz Museum, Santa Rosa. The Peanuts gang.
Graton Casino, Rohnert Park. Looks like a Vegas casino. Probably takes your money at the same rate.
Safari West, Santa Rosa. A bit of Africa in Sonoma County.
