The Santa Rosa/Sonoma County Airport/STS, or officially the Charles M Schulz Airport (whew), is a small town airport. It has a restaurant on site serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There's a full bar that opens at 8 am. Also, a little to-go eatery run by the excellent Costeaux French Bakery.
The airport is in the middle of a badly needed expansion project image from Santa Rosa Press Democrat |
Just opened is Vintage Wine Estates' tasting room. They have wine tasting, they can pack wine up for you (not sure if that's just to ship or check-in on your flight). Oh yeah, there's a wine club.
Vintage Wine Estates is a local company that owns several wineries. These include BR Cohn, Clos Pegase, Cosentino, Girard, and Viansa. There is a wine club offered at the airport tasting lounge. I'm assuming it will give you a selection of all the wines owned by the company. Vintage Wine Estates just announced the opening and said the details will be coming. It's all at the Flight Deck Lounge.
This could be your first and/or last stop on your trip to Sonoma County!
In case you're looking for a different buzz before your flight, VWE just acquired a cannabis-infused beverage company. You could really fly high! Not sure if that will be available at the airport.
If this seems funny, I was once heading out from the airport when a flight from Dallas came in. While they were standing around waiting for baggage, I heard one woman ask her husband in a deep Texas drawl, "Where can I get some wine?" Kind of like going to Hawaii and your first thought when you enter the terminal is, "Okay, where's the beach?"
