Mississippi has only two wines, the least in the country; California has about 4,400.
California is good for about 85% of the total wine produced. Second is Washington at 5%, so the other 48 states make up the remaining 10%. Only 14 states produce greater than one percent of the country's total wine production. California's wine production is exceeded only by the countries of Italy, Spain, and France.
California produces about 680 million gallons of wine a year; Montana produces the least at about 33,400 gallons, 0.004% of the country's total.
Napa and Sonoma are each responsible for only 4% of the state's total wine production. The 400-mile-long Central Valley accounts for 70% of the wine.
