Sonoma County's Murphy-Goode Winery is best known for their Liar's Dice Zinfandel and their Sauvignon Blanc. Kendall-Jackson bought the winery from the founders about ten years ago. St. Florian's Brewery was founded five years ago by a local fire captain. St. Florian is the patron saint of firefighters.
The winemaker for Murphy-Goode and the brewmaster for St. Florian's have been working together by sharing techniques and ingredients to come up with a couple new products.
Murphy-Goode now has a dry-hopped Sauvignon Blanc with with the popular Citra hops. These hops are known for their citrusy aromas and are used in many pale ales and IPAs. Though I haven't tried it this would seem to be a good aroma profile to go with Sauv Blanc as these wines usually are described with having citrusy flavors.
St. Florian's has a barrel-aged lager made using Murphy-Goode Sauvignon Blanc barrels. I think I will pick this one up and give it a try.
