Currently there are a few dozen wineries offering tastings with food in an outdoor setting and by reservation. The county health officials decided food was required in this first phase though I'm not clear why. Some restaurants are open with outdoor seating. This might be changing as early as this Saturday, June 6th.
A few days ago Sonoma County's health officer said if things look good restaurants, wineries, retail outlets and some other businesses could reopen as early as Saturday. We have not heard anything new since that announcement and I'm not entirely clear what that will mean, but I believe we will have indoor dining at restaurants and indoor tastings at wineries hopefully without the required food purchase.
This will not look like the good ol' days. You won't be just wandering into any tasting room, sitting at the bar tasting, and chatting with staff and other guests. You'll want a reservation for the limited seating. Also, I don't expect everybody, restaurants, tasting rooms, retail stores, to be ready to go by the weekend if given the green light.
Also, parks and beaches are reopening.
The other factor is the ongoing protests with a sometimes destructive element. There has been a bit of this in Santa Rosa, but minor compared to larger cities. Many towns have curfews though they may be gone by the weekend as they're not accomplishing anything.
And, yes, bring your mask. Some of your own hand sanitizer would be a good idea, too. Our wineries and restaurants are really looking forward to seeing you!
