In 2023 spirits surpassed wine in popularity in the U.S. for the first time in decades. This, according to a Gallup poll asking people what is their favorite alcoholic beverage.
The results by demographics show males and the less affluent, and younger who are usually less affluent, gravitate towards beer. Wine is too expensive for them. It appears 35 years old and up females with an income over $40k are the sweet spot in the market. What varietals do women prefer? It seems Cabernet, Merlot, rosé, and Chardonnay are the top choices.
