There are fewer people drinking, people drinking less, mostly for health reasons. Consumers have other options like craft beer and hard seltzer. There are other reasons for the decline in sales.
In 2024 American wine exports were a $1.27 billion business, with Canada a third of the total. Exports aren't a huge piece of American wine sales, but a few hundred million here, a few hundred million there, and pretty soon you're talking about real money!
