New Tasting Room Coming to Healdsburg

Okay, that's not really news as there are dozens of winery tasting rooms in Healdsburg already. Except this one isn't wine, it's hard cider. Sonoma Cider is opening a tap room per the SFGate.

The Sebastopol area of western Sonoma County was home to a thriving apple business. Many apple orchards have been replaced by Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards. However, apple-growing is still robust enough that the cider business is fairly strong in Sonoma County. Ace Cider, of Sebastopol, had what was the first modern cider pub in the country and their ciders are widely available.

They've been in business 2-1/2 years. The owners have ties back to Ace Cider and local wineries. Their tap room in Healdsburg is scheduled to open at the end of the summer. Since it's a tap room they will carry other ciders besides their own on an estimated 25 taps. They are hoping for food service and live music, also. Should be fun!
