Napa Being All Friendly

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I say this halfway joking.

With the drop in foot traffic in Napa Valley, and all other wine regions too, they are now promoting "bring your kids, bring your dogs!" along with bring your credit card. There's a recent article in Food & Wine saying how you and your kids will really enjoy Napa now.

Per the Napa Valley Wine website there are 150 wineries allowing dogs and 100 wineries allowing kids. Many are family-owned wineries who have their own kids and pets and don't want to exclude others with kids and dogs. A few were surprising because they were big corporate-type wineries or seemed kind of exclusive. Check the list and have at it!

This is a simple and inexpensive way for wineries to entice new visitors. It would be much more difficult to do something meaningful like lower fees as the real issue is pricing people (like me) out. This is also a management decision where extra work falls on the workers. I've been there where the parents want to party and expect babysitting.

Keep your kids and animals with you at all times. Remember, unattended children will be given free goldfish!
