You could drink a glass of wine, with potential benefits to you, or a glass of water, with bacteria and chlorine. :)
Heart health (This info from mayoclinic.org)
You may have heard about the antioxidants in red wine. They come from the grapes skins, so it's possible drinking red grape juice or eating red grapes may give the same benefit; cranberries, also. Of course, where's the fun in that when you can share a nice bottle of wine with your SO at dinner?
Alcohol of any sort may help raise your good cholesterol and help prevent artery damage from the bad cholesterol. Alcohol may help keep blood clots from forming.
This is all when consumed in moderation. Once you go past that, the detriments outweigh the benefits.
Stress relief
There's a reason people like a glass of wine after work. It helps that you can concentrate on each sip and pick up some of the complexities of the wine. Better than still thinking about your boss.
Weight loss
Weight loss? Yes, there are studies showing that who drink a glass of wine a day have lower weight and lower body mass than those who drink hard liquor. So if you feel like you want a drink, wine is the way.
Stay younger
Wine drinkers can have significantly more antioxidants in their blood. Antioxidants, and exercise, are known to slow down the aging process.
Social
Don't underestimate the benefits of social interaction, especially after we all went through the lockdowns (where I was talking to my cat and I swear he was answering back). I think most will agree, social gatherings are more fun with a glass of wine.
Enhancing a meal
There's a reason people spend so much time figuring out wine and food pairings. It's because the wine enhances the food while the food enhances the wine. It's a win-win.
