North Coast Wine Challenge 2023

This is an annual judging of wines entered from the North Coast grape growing area of California. This included the counties of Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Lake, Marin, and Solano. Yes, some of these are better known than others, but all are making premium commercial wines.

The big winner. I've never heard of them and
their tasting room is 15 minutes away. Road trip!

Like any judging, it's never perfect, as their tastes won't always align with what you like. What's nice is it includes a reasonably sized geographic area. It's not too big like a judging for any American wine, and not as small as the Sonoma County Harvest Fair that's only Sonoma grown wines. Like almost all wine competitions, the winery has to decide if to enter and what to enter. This means many/most wineries aren't included. Often you'll find smaller ones trying to make a name for themselves.

The judging results are just released. There will be a public tasting on June 17th in case you are in the neighborhood. The big winners are here. All the winners here, although as of the day I'm writing this they are not yet posted, but should be coming soon.
