Favorites from the Sonoma County Harvest Fair

The first weekend of October is a grand tasting of the wines of Sonoma County. I was there for one day, three hours, and barely scratched the surface. In fact, I had just gotten to the Cabernets at closing time! Of the wines I tasted these were the favorites.

Forchini Vineyards 2012 Papa Nonno (Italian blend) $26. Got spaghetti? This is the wine.

Imagery Winery 2012 Tusca Brava (Italian blend) $50. Needs to age.

Davis Family 2012 Pinot Noir, Dutton Ranch $55. Expensive, yes. Excellent, yes. Davis Family makes lots of great Pinots.

DeLoach Vineyards 2012 Pinot Noir Olivet Bench $45.  Classic Russian River Pinot.

Willianson 2012 Heritage Shiraz Dry Creek Valley $47

Sebastiani 2012 Gravel Bed Red (blend) $35. Maybe not a great deal for $35, but I've seen it locally for about $20. For that it's a great, somewhat rustic, wine.

Fogline Vineyards 2012 Grist Vyd Zinfandel $38. A newer, small winery, making several very good wines in small quantities.

It was a hot day and there were several local microbreweries pouring along with the wineries so .... that may be why I didn't get to try as many wines as I hoped. Next year!
