Fourth of July Weekend in Sonoma County

The first weekend of July 2016 is a three-day holiday for most (except those in retail and hospitality like wineries and hotels). What's happening in Sonoma County for this long weekend? Well, there will be lots of fireworks and a few other things.

I've highlighted my top picks for Sat, Sun and Mon.

This is the actual holiday and is traditionally a slow day for the winery tasting rooms. Some will be closed or closing early. If you have plans to wine taste this day you may want to call ahead.

Cloverdale - Fireworks
Healdsburg - Fireworks at the high school
Kenwood - Afternoon parade, foot race, BBQ and games
Rohnert Park - Evening, Santa Rosa Symphony and fireworks at Green Music Center
Santa Rosa - Fireworks at the fairgrounds. The biggest display in the county.
Sonoma - All day, Fourth of July on the Plaza. The day starts with a parade and ends with fireworks. In between you could attend the Sonoma Stompers baseball game. It's the perfect Fourth of July!

Or maybe just hang out at the beach along the Russian River
